Christmas Day 2009 from Nicholas

Christmas Day 2009

An alternative one !

We're at Aqaba, waiting for a ferry. Not sure when we're going. We hear about political difficulties making for delay. Just done interview, Mike and Nick, with BBC Radio York's Elly Fiorentini: about our mission, the journey so far and the help we need now. Mentioned how the convoy has snowballed, including with a massive influx of Turkish support, 62 extra vehicles and some lively and refreshing new blood; + 3 new big trucks from Jordan: so now 140 vehicles and 500 people.

Which is: please everyone contact the Egyptian Embassy in London, asking quite simply to let our convoy through. It's a humanitarian mission, sorely needed supplies ز for a suffering people. Be polite & respectful. Try this emergency no. for the embassy: 07531 419 393. Also try the British Foreign & Commonwealth Office - when you do try quoting the front page of your passport: "Her Britannic Majesty … allow the bearer to pass freely without let or hindrance…"

etc .

ِAfter arrival Xmas Eve, we had massive hospitality as usual from our Jordanian hosts. ِAmongst the speakers was George Galloway who said:

"When last the British, Turks and Arabs were all in Aqaba at the time of Lawrence of Arabia we were enemies. Now we are friends, united in our common goal, to help the people of Gaza."
